Safety Inspection Request

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is not law enforcement. We do not issue fines for boating safety violations. Our inspectors will simply check to make sure you have all the required equipment aboard.

Idaho State Law requires that your boat has:

• State numbers on each side of the bow
• Documentation of licensing
• A horn, whistle, bell or other sound-producing device
• U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation devices for everyone on board
• Visual distress signal (like the orange flag you use to alert boats that there is a swimmer in the water)
• Alternate propulsion (like an oar)
• Backfire flame arrester
• Fire extinguisher
• Some way of bailing water (like a bucket or cooler)
• Navigation lights if you plan to be out after dusk
